At Avenue 1 Aesthetics we've been helping people regain their hair naturally for years. We use PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, but many people don't know how PRP hair restoration works. Today, we're talking about what PRP for hair restoration is, how it works, and how it can benefit you if your hair is thinning. If you're looking for PRP injections for hair loss in Royal Oak Michigan, then take a look at this informative information. We're waiting to help you!

What is PRP

PRP is short for platelet rich plasma. Platelet rich plasma is a concentrate of platelet rich plasma protein produced by running whole blood through a centrifuge to remove the red blood cells, leaving only the liquid portion of the blood - plasma - and platelets behind. This plasma solution can then be used to help the body heal itself. It's useful for everything from injured tendons and joints to thinning hair.

How PRP Works

PRP promotes healing by creating an environment especially conducive to body repair. The platelets in PRP release over 30 bioactive proteins and growth factors that enhance tissue regeneration and healing.

The growth factors released by the platelets activate multiple types of cells that are required for tissue healing and stimulate protein production which the body needs to heal itself. The proteins signal cells to migrate to the area of injury and stimulate new tissue growth.

How PRP is Produced

PRP is produced using your body's own blood. We do a blood draw, then we centrifuge the blood to remove the red blood cells, leaving behind only platelet rich plasma. Although the name sounds very medical and intimidating, it's actually a very simple procedure and a simple application.

How PRP Hair Restoration Works

Thinning hair and balding are the result of injured, dying, or dead hair follicles. However, just because your hair is thinning or you're balding doesn't mean that your follicles are completely dead. Some of those follicles may only be injured, and like any injured body part, they can be healed. That's where PRP comes in.

The proteins and growth factors released by PRP can help injured follicles heal and recover, nourishing the follicles to promote new hair growth as well as improving the health of existing hair. The healthier your follicles are, the healthier your hair will be.

The procedure is a simple one. We inject the PRP into the skin of the scalp. Once there, the proteins and growth factors begin their job of signaling the body to shuttle nutrients and blood to the area, nourishing the follicles to help them grow hair once more.

PRP Effectiveness

PRP is widely regarded as an effective treatment to treat hair loss and thinning. However, as with all treatments, it's not a miracle cure. PRP is highly effective at helping injured and dormant hair follicles heal and produce hair once more. Unfortunately, medical science hasn't figured out how to bring things back to life. So any follicles that are dead are dead.

That being said, in almost all cases, patients who receive PRP hair restoration treatments experience hair regrowth and thickening of existing hair.
